With Band In A Box I come out of my computer into a Roland MT200 Digital sequencer and sound module. Even though the sounds are good this unit is about 10 years old and I am sure there must be a more update unit that will give better sounds with BIAB. Tell me what you are using. Thanks. Bill

I use a Roland SC 88. It works real good but the player that comes with BIAB the Virtual SC55 or SC88 works equally as good. Its on the BIAB CD.

I use a SoundBlaster Live! card with a freeware 12 MB SoundFont that's available for download on the 'net. It sounds just about the same as the VSC-3 but without the latency of the VSC.

I'm quite happy with this setup and has done many home-recordings this way, as I also own the Power Tracks sequencer from the same company.

My vote is to use the vitual Sound Canvas as mentioned above. If you have a good audio card, amp and speakers the sounds are very good and much cheaper than a dedicated hardware module. Actually I have not even turned on my external sound module sense I installed the vitual software several months ago.

Do you have version 12 of BIAB? This version supports General MIDI 2 and comes with the Roland ED VSC3 Synth. Herb Steiner even uses this to produce his rhythm tracks that he offers for sale.

I use a Korg X-5 at full output into a Presonus Bluetube, no "drive" or pad, Gain at 9 O'clock. A fine combination. There was a X-5 module without keys, if you can find one grab it.
But I then put the BIAB midi files into Digital Performer 3.11 to write melodies and or do finished work from a chord/ rhythm framework.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 05 March 2003 at 04:47 AM.]
