Steel through MusicMan Amps

Does anybody have experience with MM amps?
I have a 2-12" 75watts which sounds not bad.
I am thinkin' about puttin a 15" speaker in it??!!
Any suggestions, recommendations or comments?

You might want to try EVM 12L speakers before you put in a new baffle board. They are a very smooth speaker and have a lot of the characteristis that I liked in the old JBL 15s, but in a 12". I believe bOb uses EVs as well.

The orignal speakers are likely to be 8 ohms. Your total load would be 4 ohms. If that is the case, I would use a 4 ohm speaker. A 1501-4SB Black Widow or a reconed JBL-D130 or D-140, or an EV speaker at 4 ohms. Some of the MusicMan amps I have worked on have an impedance selector for 4 or 8 ohms. If that's the case, you change and choices for a speaker will be much easier

I have been a MM user for 20 years. I have never played through a solid state amp which can compare with the MM 130 and 150 watt units. Pick up an HD130 reverb head and get a good 15" speaker cabinet. You can't miss with this combination. If you do much C6th work the 15 is a must. I thought about converting a 212HD MM which I also have by installing a 15 but the cabinet space is marginal. So, I bought two MM heads, an HD130 and an HD150. I run them through a modified Hartke single 15 "Transporter" cabinet. The quality of this combination is great. Even though these amps are close to 20 years old. They still outperform just about everything else.

I guess I'll go out and give some EVM 12"
speakers a trial. After I 'll get some and
that's due to the limited space, too.

choice!!
