Boss GT-6

I have been thinking of purchasing one of these multi-effect foot units(Boss GT-5 or 6) to play my telecaster through. I had planned on using it as an effects unit between the guitar and a Fender twin-reverb amp, but after talking to the guy at the music store he said that you just want to line out from the guitar to the GT-6 and straight into the PA mixer.(No amp) Is this information correct? If so is it better to utilize it w/ out an amplifier? Just never heard of this before. Can you guys gimmie some insight? Thanks,Brandon

GT-5 works well both ways.
Lots of guys use them with guitar amps on live gigs.
Also you can record direct (no amp) and get a good sound with it.

With the new modeling technology,running direct is a real choice now.I sell the Boss
GT6 and it works. My choice of late is the
Yamaha DG stomp pedal. My steel direct through a mixer to studio monitors makes it
hard to choose an amp to come close for live.
You might try an acoustic amp or keyboard amp
to give you a PA type sound for a stage monitor but please be careful with those tweets!
Someone should make a steel amp with some tweets. In stereo of course. OK Peavey,
