JBL Speakers

Post by Jim Johnson »

Hey guys, I need a little assistance.
Have any of you ever used 12" JBL's?
If so, I need your opinion. Also, do you
know where i can find two, in cabinets for
sale and what would be a fair price for them?
thanks very much,
Jim

I ordered a Twin Reverb amp from Fender back in the 60's with 12" JBLs in it. In my opinion, it made for an awesome sounding steel amp! Image

I used to use a Fender Twin with JBL's AND an acoustic bass amp with a single 18...Awesome sound, BUT...I don't think the JBL's had the same hi frequency response as does a modern 15 incher like a Peavey...Still, the speakers were built like a tank and you never had to worry about putting a little extra gas to them....

Another possibility is mismatching a pair. I have a 1201 Black Widow and an EVL in one amp and I had them in a Twin that got stolen and they seem to be a nice compliment.

I love JBL's I have a 15" in my Nash 400 amp and 2 12" in my Fender Twin. The sound is so rich and warm and the highs are fat not thin sounding. Anyway, E-Bay is a good source for JBL's and price is $75 - 150 would be ok deal depending on the shape of the speaker, if it's been reconed or original, 4, 8, 16 ohms.

Its a good place to start.

Jim they are great but expensive. You really would do as well, depending on your ear`s of coarse with Black Widow`s. They have the same durability, slightly less biting high`s and easier to get in the Steel guitar world. Otherwise check your local music store`s for a JBL dealer. Leave the ebay thing alone were always working on Ebay ripoff`s although you can trust the forum brotherhood.

Easy Chuck, I've only had 2 bad transactions on Ebay out of around 300. I have also had 2 bad Forum transactions out of only about 15. The percentages are not very good, so I would rather do business on Ebay.
