Speaker question...
I have a Webb Steel Amp that HAD a 4 ohm JBL speaker in it. I had to have the speaker reconed and the only kit available was an 8 ohm kit. So now my Webb has an 8ohm JBL in it. My question is: I would like to try this amp using the JBL and maybe plug in a 4 ohm Black Widow into the extension speaker side. Is this OK or not? I don't know what resistance the two combined would be and I don't know if the Webb could handle it. Can somebody help me with this?
Thanks,
Dave Alfstad

I have a Webb amp also and if you notice the back of the amp it states you can run a 2 ohm load. That would be two 4 ohm speakers connected in series. If you use a 4 ohm and an 8 ohm speaker it would be OK and not harm the amp but the 4 ohm speaker would be louder. It would be better if you used two 8 ohm speakers as that would be a 4 ohm load on the amp and it would balance the volume in both speakers.

My Webb has a 4 ohm speaker in it, and I have often run an 8 ohm satellite on the other side of the stage for the guitar player. The 8 ohm isn't as loud as the 4 ohm, but there is no harm.
The combined impedence for the parallel connection is (8x4)/(8+4) which is 32/12 or 2.66 ohms. The Webb is designed to handle a minimum of 2 ohms, so this configuration is safe.
