Boss RV-2 needs help

Post by Len Amaral »

I picked up a Boss RV-2 and it's noisy and sounds like it needs an enema! Is there someone that repairs these units? I tried to locate a repair contact from Boss on their website but it's all advertisements.

Len, this may not be of any direct help to you, but maybe ?? Anyway, I've a Boss RV-3 (reverb & delay) and have been trying to use it with an old non-reverb Bandmaster amp to get that Fender reverb sound, but have not found it. It may have been you or someone else, a month or so ago that talked about these Boss pedals & suggested settings, but they haven't worked for me. Is the RV-2 suppose to be better at this than the RV-3?? I really don't want to put out $250+ for a Fender or such unit. Thanks, Len & anyone else for input here.
[This message was edited by John Hanusch on 07 May 2001 at 09:10 AM.]

Hi John:
I also have an RV-3 and I use it for reverb only and I find it to be very nice. However, the reason I purchased the RV-2 was it has a reputation for sounding warmer and more spring like than the RV-3. I bought this unit on ebay and was told it was in A-1 condition. The battery clip was missing and it hisses. Definately something wrong with the unit! Oh well!

Len, sorry to hear about that RV-2 having a problem. Could you let us know who the seller was so we can be forewarned?? I finally got my RV-3 sounding pretty good (Fender type reverb "sound" - I won't dare mention that 4-letter word, you know, the one that begins with a 'T' & ends in a 'E', with an o & n between). Anyway, I was working with this old '53 T-3 Custom, a '65 Bandmaster & an older Fender tone/vol pedal and it just wasn't working, plus other weird nuances coming out. Well, I decided to hook up an old ZB Custom & "WA-La" (or however you spell it) -- it all started coming out O.K. Something about "MY" old Fender Custom & that newer RV-3 that "I" couldn't get to work. Hope you get yours going.
BTW, anyone have a nice older Showman Reverb for sale??
