Who's an expert on Sho-Bud amps?

I'm considering buying an old Sho-Bud amp. All I remember about the amp is that is has front-mounted controls and a JBL 130 in it. How many different models are there? Also what's a fair price? Can anyone help?

There were some posts recently on this topic. You might do a search and come up with some info. I'm no expert but I've seen two models, the "Christmas Tree" with the controls up in a corner, so named because of the backlit control plate, and a more conventional model with the controls across the top front.

I've looked inside a couple and while they may sound pretty good, the design itself is nothing special. It seems I remember a post where there was mention of an annoying habit they have of blowing up while being run pretty hard, and taking out the speaker in the process. Not so good if you have a vintage JBL in there.

Price? I'm not sure what the going value for the amp is, but working D130F JBLs are pretty valuable right now. If you got it cheap enough....Check ebay...

Don Evans! He told me he worked with Shot on the design of some of Shot's amps. He started Evans amps, but Ed Buffington now makes Evans amps. I don't know if Don is on line.[This message was edited by Keith Hilton on 02 April 2001 at 10:43 PM.]
