I have a Fender single 10 steel, about a late 70's and play through a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. Never have liked the sound from the Deluxe Reverb. Should I replace it with a Fender Twin Reverb tube amp or a Peavey 400. Have been told both ways. Thanks

Gene, you might want to post over on the Electronics forum. That's a better place to get a quick answer to your question.
As to the actual question - a Deluxe Reverb has only 22 watts of power, which is insufficient to get a clean sound at loud volume levels. You may be after more headroom, less distortion, and tighter bass response. A Twin will offer you this, or a Vegas, Nashville, Session 400. There are other, less explored avenues for great steel tone. Perhaps an older solid-state amp or tube amp. I like Kustoms, you might want to try an old Kustom tuck'n'roll amp. Many of these have reverb and tremolo, and there were lots of 1x15" cand 2x15" cabs made that sound great for steel. I also dig older Sunn amps, especially the models with 2 or 4 6550 tubes. These have great clean tones, as do many older Ampeg amps, (VT-22, V4, V2, etc.) You may get a good deal on one of these, my advice is to play as many of them as you can and you'll find something you'll like.

The amps that consistently are talked about are Peavey Session/Nashville 400/500 models 1970's-1990's, Fender Twin Reverb 1960's-70's, Webb, and Evans. On the last two, I'm not sure which models. All of these amps have wide-frequency tone, deep soundstage, and power, and are played by the pros. They all have enthusiastic advocates, as well as naysayers. The best thing to do is try to listen to a few and select what you like best.
