is there anyone useing the Lexicon mpx 500 on their steelguitar out there? i understand a lot of steel players are useing the mpx 100 and the mpx 1..with their steelguitar and say they give great reverbs and delays for the steel. a music store near where i live is geting in some mpx 100 and 500 lexicons, which would be the best for the steelguitar? i was told with the 500, i could program great delays and reverbs,and combine them if i want to or mono split and just have delay or reverb, where as you can,t do this with the mpx 100.i need some advice before i buy. Hi Joe,

All of the Lexicon units are great with each one offering more flexibility and programability (is that a real word).

The 500 is a good unit and give you alot of control over the shaping of the sound. The MPX-1 is good as well...It offers more effects and I have seen an editor where you can modify the sound via computer and midi.

The lexicon reverbs are the best IMHO.. Lush and rich.

It is all an issue of flexibility and how much you like to tinker with the sound.

I have a lexicon mpx500 and it sounds great. I run it through a mesa boogie studio preamp and in one or two amps (Nashville and Session 500) regarding on the distance to carry..... The Lexicon really wides out the tone even at small reverb settings. I believe Lexicon and TC electronics are the two that gives you the "best" reverb.(My opinion...)
