Randall Steel Amp
If my memory serves me correctly the Randall Amp Co. manufactured a steel amp about 20 years ago called a Randall Steelman 500. Did anyone ever use one of these amps and if so how did it stack up against a Peavey, Webb etc?

I tried one many years ago, and it was a good amp for its day. But it cannot compare to today's solid state amps. The transistorized amps of the past few years have improved tremendously. They're still not on a par with a good tube amp, but they sure sound a LOT better than they used to! As far as sound goes, I think they were quite similar to the old SS Ampeg amps.

I have one of these old Randall amps, and I'll tell you, it's one of the most powerful amps I've ever played through. 300 watts!! which for that time period was a bunch. This amp even had a reverb that could be E.Q'd. and a 15" JBL speaker. Pretty impressive sounding amp. It's not what I use these days, but I wouldn't have a problem with doing so if need be.
If you know of someone who has one of these and wants to sell it, let me know.
