Having problem with Clavinova CLP-200 .

Post by Ingo Mamczak »

Hi ,
I am having a problem with a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-200 . It's for sale , cheap , but has a problem which I don't know is worth fixing or not . As soon as I turn it on the volume level drops almost immediately to where it can barely be heard at all . All the keys and the effects work but the volume drops after about one second from turning it on . It hasn't been used in over two years and it might have got damp where it was stored . Does it sound like a small problem worth fixing or has anyone come across something like this before ? Or could it be the transformer , and if so would that be worth fixing or replacing ?
Any help at all would be gratefully appreciated , thanks in advance .

Ingo,

Does that unit have midi built into it?

It could be a midi controller telling the unit to turn the volume down. Of course it may also be really broken :-(

Good Luck

If its strictly a volume problem, it's worth fixing. It shouldn't be too hard to track the problem down. It must be in the audio amp, or the power supply, and they're the two simple sections. If the problem were in the tone/rhythm generators, it might be a lot harder to fix. Go for it!

Thanks Mark and Donny for your replies .
I'm going to have a better look at it over the coming week , he said he doesn't mind me poking at it with a screwdriver Image hopefully I'll be able to isolate the problem . Thanks again ,
Ingo .
