Jeff Beck - Still Inspirational

Post by Chris Bauer »

I just got back from Jeff Beck's show and, though my ears may still be ringing a bit, my mind is more occupied with the enormity of his continued talent. I realize that his style of music is a few galaxies away from the taste of many forumites. But, if measures of musicality include sheer musical/sonic inventiveness, novel playing approaches, and an ability to really 'give voice' to human emotion, then Beck continues to pass with honors on all counts. And, he knows a thing or two about slide playing to boot...

It feels like one of those shows that, besides the pleasure of hearing it, has the potential to inspire a lot of new ideas about both technique and approaches to musical ideas for a long time to come. Highly recommended!

Yeah Chris !!
Since the Yardbirds, up till now, Becko is my favourite English electrik Guitbox Player.
he's always had an original + personal approach ! he's up there in my book along w: Jimi.(and he's still live + kickin' !)
"Good Bye PorkPie Hat" is one of my Favourites.
from what i understand Beck + Roy Buchanan seemed to know each other ?
Steelin' Beck anybody ? Who's been tryin'? Image

Just last weekend the guitar player I was giging with loaned me a tape copy of Jeff's latest...I don't know the name off hand...it was interesting, kinda "Techno".... but clearly not my favorite work that he's done. One thing though, I've always suspected Jeff is another one of those guitarists that have the sound of the steel somewhere in the back of their mind.

as far as steelin Beck- Dave Ristrim has ""cause We've Ended As Lovers" and "People get ready", both tunes associated with Jeff Beck, on his CD (available thru the forum) and does an admirable job on 'em

Jeff Beck is the most innovative guitarist in Rock, IMHO. His playing defines "out there".

He still manages to hold onto a rep, even if he has only released four albums in two decades.
Beck, come on dig it out and keep recording.
