I'll have to check it out. A friend loaned me a Prine album over 20 years ago. It was very entertaining, but no steel that I recall. I'd probably like hearing John do some hard core country stuff. BTW: I returned the favor and turned that same buddy into a real HagFan.
Iris Demint wrote a great song which Merle recored on the much overlooked "Haggard '96". It's call "No Time to Cry". I've never heard her do it. Merle claims to like Iris' version of Big City better than his own. Christ could record that one and I'd like Merle's best. If I had a favorite Hag tune...

I have been a fan of Iris DeMint since 1997 when a Florada NPR station got flack about playing her song Wasteland of the Free.
this is my first album of prine but his earlier material has been added to my long wish list.

Will...caught this same show last night on local PBS. Prine talks to you, and I hate to compare, but the way ole' Bob Dylan used to.
Liked that new song of his "In Spite of Ourselves".....and did I hear the word 'laid'
amongst the lyrics. He is outstanding.
I did notice, however, when he was sitting and getting interviewed, that the right side of his neck look diminished a bit....meaning
a serious trauma; operation.
A friend's wife back here has had just about half of her neck removed due to cancer; so I
don't want to start a forest firw here, but that look was there. FWIW

Chip--Prine indeed has battled cancer. I don't know the nature of it but that is public knowledge--he is in recovery.
And yes, you did hear laid--He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays, I caught him once and he was smellin' my undies, Iris sings. I love it.

Thanks Jon...yeah, somehow with a female singing those lyrics, there is more of an impact [no offense JP].
I sure wish him well in his battle. This poor gal that I speak of also has MD. She really needs an operation on her carotid
artery on the siide of her neck where the cancer was extracted to try to increase the blood flow to her brain...but the doc's are
fearful of operating because so much of her neck has already been lost.
John Prine is a class one tunesmith for sure.
God Bless him.
