Did George and Tammy have to lipsinc because they didn't know how to sing? Not saying anyone else has to do it that way, mind you. Never saw Tammy sing in a sheet, either, but if it sells.....Great Gugamooga, Pat.

It seems like the perfect time to share this story. I was sittin' in Skull's down on Printer's Alley. I was diggin' the sounds of Gene O'Neil on steel, John Barber on drums, and Billy Dee on bass and vocals(currently with Dale Watson). It was around the time that "Don't Take The Girl" was peakin' in the charts. Lo and behold, in walks Tim MaGraw, with a few gals and a couple guys. They appeared to be basking in the glory of Tim's current success. As was common practice at Skull's, they called Tim up to sing. He hit the stage and conversed with the band, and appeared suprised that they had no reservations about playing his "hit". In all the nights that I spent in Skull's, I never saw them adjust the sound system, regardless of who got up to sing. This night was no exception. I was shocked at how "weak" Tim's voice was!! My observation was that he wasn't drunk. Just "NO" power in his vocals at all. It was at that moment that I realized how much the producers and new "artist?", depend on the magic of modern day recording equipment!!! Somehow I feel that this story is appropriate for this thread.

One thing I've learned over the years... generally these house PA systems are worn out...

We always bring our sound system when we gig out...

You have to play on good equipment to sound good... and the sound is everything in today's business.
