When I click on the link, I get the nice picture of Buddy Emmons, but it won't play. I can't even close the window afterwards. And after that the SGF sections can't be accessed. I have to to turn off the computer with the switch. It's the old Windows XP type. And all I wanted to hear was Buddy play.
Why can this happen?

First, you'll need to download and install Apple's Quicktime Player and associated browser "plug-in." Then depending on which browser you use, you may have to click to allow scripting AND the Quicktime plug-in.
For instance, I use the current version of Mozilla Firefox as my default web browser. I have Quicktime Player and plug-in installed. I Also have the NoScript Add-on installed.
To get the videos on Mike Ihde's website to play, I first needed to make sure Quicktime plug-in was installed in my browser. Then I have to tell NoScript to allow scripts to run on his website. Finally, I had to click to allow the Quicktime Plug-in to run. After that, all of the videos on his video index page load and play without hesitation.
You may use a different web browser that has fewer steps until playback. But, you'll still need Apple Quicktime as a plug-in to watch these videos.
Apparently, from what I'm reading in search results, Apple's Quicktime developers are not too concerned about supporting Windows 8.1, especially the 64 bit version.
Wiz, you posted this about downloading Quicktime via the link you provided:
Just download the installer and see if it works anyway. They may have forgotten to update the system requirements at (anti-Microsoft) Apple.
After allowing all scripts by the process of clicking "Allow all scripts", still having scripts partially blocked, and clicking Allow all again (why does NoScript do this? sometimes four or five times is needed to clear all scripts), when I click on "Download" I get the window that asks if I want to Save This File. I click on Save File and the window vanishes--that's it. It doesn't ask me where to save the file, it just disappears. I can't find any installer file anywhere--it's not in the "Downloads" library, or in my "Desktop".
I have iTunes and Quicktime installed on my Win 8.1 system. I needed the Quicktime for a CD/DVD labeler program. The labeler program works so I assume Quicktime does too.
Jack;
Can you check out the web page mentioned in this thread and see if you can playback the .mov videos posted on the site? If so, maybe you can help the others figure out what they need to do to gey QT working in a browser.
I haven't tried the QT videos on my Win 8.1 system but they work OK on Win 7.
On my Win 8.1 system, the Apple software will not install with their updater utility. I have to download the files and then go to the directory where they were downloaded to and then install from there. On my system they are downloaded to the C:\Users\Jack\AppData\Local\Apple\AppleSoftwareUpdate
