Avid MBox Pro question

Post by Tom Wolverton »

I'm thinking of running a tube mic pre in front of my Avid MBox Pro, running ProTools 10.
How would this work? Is it a line level out of the mic pre and a line level input into the MBox Pro? Is this the cleanest way to do it? Looking at a UA 610 Solo.

Yep, if you're going through a separate preamp, line level is what you want.

Great, looks do-able. looks like the Line out is XLR from the Solo 610. I think the Mbox Pro can work with that. Input channels 3 & 4, in particular.

I cut through a Brad Sarno V8 octal tube preamp line in to the MBox Pro, and it sounds fantastic...

Same for me. I use the XLR option on my V8. It really sounds good straight into my Mboxpro.
