I happen to own the original prototype Steelseat.com seat amp by Joe. It's a little heavier than most of his other models, and it doesn't hold any gear....but it IS comfortable and it provides a nice low frequency massage while in use Thanks again, Joe.
Stephen I can build one - have build one deep enough to put a rack in and the back storage could be for mics, mic stand, cords and could put a SideKare on the other side - which would take care of Lee too - the problem with that would be weigh - but I can build one like that if someone wants it.
Rick - that is kinda a proto-type but you have an Amp-Seat THIS IS a Seat - Amp
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
What does people think about Gallien-Krueger MB 200 or MB 500 for controls?

Joe, I'm using the GK MB200, but I have my Line 6 Pod XT in front of it to dial in the tones I like. Basically, I just adjust the amp for the room and use my own patches in the Pod to get "my sound". The GK MB200 works very well.

Thanks b0b I have known 3 or 4 that were using them and had all of them recommend them.
I had started this project out as a practice amp for the "bedroom" players but it might just go much farther than that from all the response I have gotten.
I have several that wants to talk to me in Dallas next week.

Joe,
I like the idea of it, except for one thing. I like my amp back of me so I can hear it. Maybe the "cure" would be a powered monitor facing back at me.
I definitely like the idea that the amp is in the side car, and your idea of having the power strip right on the seat. Innovation is all it is about. I might dd the idea of a 12" speaker is not too far fetched for the "amp seat". And an option of a "wheelie" deal like a suitcase has, with the wheels and collapsible handle.
Maybe one day I can afford to buy one of your seats, instead of building my own. Yours are really nice. Just no funds available here.
thanks for the note - This idea started as a practice for the bedroom player - now several have wanted to plug in another speaker -
I think I have just started the idea and will learn a lot more in Dallas at the show next week. I want to offer an idea and know that steel players (and other musicians for that matter) have their own idea so I want to be flexible with lots of options. I have already gotten several ideas and am keeping a notebook.

I've actually been building my own prototype of a similar thing. Must be something in the air...
The trouble with using any of the GK MB's is that they have a few controls and inputs you need access to in the back. Aux in, headphones and DI are all back there. Perhaps you could use cables to reroute them to a panel next to the face of the unit...that might be pretty slick, actually.
I wonder about whether it would be difficult to hear an amp you're sitting on. I'm thinking probably not, but it definitely merits some testing. Seems like the whole point of this thing is so you DON'T have to haul an extra thing (eg speaker cabinet) into the gig.
Maybe some small monitors pointing up next to the amp on the seat would be a solution?
Great execution on this, Joe!
