It was with great sadness I read in the AIHSGC of the passing of VERN CORNWALL (84) of Southbend IN. Those who knew Vern will recall a very quiet gentleman who never flaunted his talent on the rhythm guitar and steel guitar. He was far too modest, enjoying listening to others and accompanying them with his super rhythm. I honestly felt Vern found chords which were yet to be invented ! Vern's ability on the steel guitar was also a treat to behold as at times he had the touch and sound of the 'Master of Touch and Tone'. I can recall coaxing him reluctantly on stage to play his Rickenbacker bakelite...it was a rare occasion as he had physical difficulty holding the bar. But what a treat to hear him play steel ! I was there accompanying him on r/guitar, an occasion I'll long remember. On r/guitar he never used a pick, always his right thumb playing those great chordal structures. I will miss him greatly.
BILL STAFFORD played steel at his Service...what an awesome send-off for Vern ! R.I.P. good buddy ...
