Another Zoom H2 question

Post by Jon Light (deceased) »

With all the available options for auto gain control, compression, limiting etc, does anyone have good tips for worry-free recording of rehearsals or loud band gigs? I would really like 'set and forget' ease and although great sounding results would be cool, anything that's not total mush is what I seek. I'm more interested in 'study material' than in a fine listening experience.

Jon,
put the switch on the right side on low, then tweek it in a loud song with the volume up-down. I hope this will work :)

Jon, I've gotten good results with the AG-1 Limiter, I think it is, the general limiter. Just keeps sound from clipping and distorting. Any of the limiters disable the input volume slider, so it makes good sound an automatic thing.

I record as WAV 44.1/16 bit, run through Levelator to even out sound levels, and then convert to MP3 in iTunes if I need files in that format.
