For you people out there that want to here some of the real stuff, go to the site below on Saturdays 1:00 to 3:00.The DJ on this show is Ken Hippler (KFAI Mpls, Mn.)who also is a steel player, so you know there is plenty of steel.I think this is one of the best shows around.

I must second, third and fourth, both Curt and Sage. I have spent some time with Ken, and I have seen his collection of music. He has CD's of artists that are true country, and have never been played on any country station. I spent a couple of hours together last night and he played some cuts from a CD by Jess Willard, who is an unknown, but if he were to be around today, would not get played on any current country station, for he would be "too country". Jess died at the age of 49, so, the only legacy left is what is available through Bear Family records and other vendors of traditional country.
I had the pleasure of listing to the station out of Fort Dodge, last fall, when my wife and I traveled to Colorado. I picked up the station shortly after getting past Ft. Dodge, and had it all the way to Grand Island, NE. before we lost it. That's over 300 miles away, if not further. Unfortunately, the signal does not carry north of Ft. Dodge, beyond 50 miles, so I lost the signal on the way home.
What Ken plays is a great mixture of traditional and classic country. No other DJ in the Twin Cities will do that. The "big" station here is K-102 and they have a "classic" show that only goes back 20 years. Ken will play songs from the 30's, 40's and 50's.
Another station on the web that you might like to try to listen to is out of Sauk Rapids, MN. I believe the internet address is www.800wval.com. This station will play songs from the 20's on up through the 70's and it is pure country. Sometimes they will play Alan Jackson, Dwight Yokam, but usually they are "real classic" country.
I hope you all give Ken and WVAl a listen, and be sure to send him an email if you do, I am sure that he would appreciate it. His e-mail is vintagecountry@hotmail.com
