I just found out about this. Apparently Dayna Wills and L.A.s own Lucky Stars(featuring the great Jeremy Wakefield on steel)and other special guests will be performing this Sunday afternoon(Feb.18)at the American Legion Hall at 13759 Central Ave.in Chino,Ca.For more info. call (626)963-7176 or <Wswing4ever@aol.com> I'll be there. -MJ-

It was a cool thing.For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jeremy Wakefield,he plays stand-up steel on a vintage triple-8 Bigsby in the tradition of Vance Terry and Joaquin Murphey and is a great singer as well.If you want to hear how those great swing bands must have sounded live back in the 40s,The Lucky Stars are as close as you're gonna get.Dayna Wills was there as well as a gaggle of pickers and jammers - yours truly included.It was the first get together of The Southern California Western Swing Society which promises to be an enthusiastic organization. -MJ-

Shoot!@#$% I wish I could've made it! It was pretty close to my house even. Larry Petree from Bakersfield stopped by my gig at Lorretta's jam night in Fontana ( I was on bass) afterwards and was still playing really inspired steel after the SCWSS dance. I hope to make the next one if I can!
