THE BROOKLYN COWBOYS ANNOUNCE FIRST LEG OF WORLD TOUR! THE "DOIN' TIME ON
PLANET EARTH" TOUR LAUNCHES FEBRUARY 1, 2001 IN BOONE, N.C.
Nashville TN (January 18, 2001)--The first super group of the new
millennium, The Brooklyn Cowboys, has announced the first leg of their "Doin
' Time On Planet Earth" World Tour. Starting in the Southeastern United
States, The Brooklyn Cowboys are looking forward to a year of live shows all
across the globe with a finale in Europe. This highly anticipated tour comes
upon the heels of their freshman studio release, DOIN' TIME ON PLANET EARTH,
released in the late Spring of 2000. The well-respected Brooklyn Cowboys are
already critically acclaimed for their studio work both, individually and
collectively, and their road show is already being lauded as a "knock-out
grand tour."
Leading the charge will be country rock 'n' roll veterans Walter Egan,
Fredro Perry and pedal steel master Buddy Cage. The tour will debut a new
female singer, Grammy nominee Lona Heins, who has worked with Pam Tillis,
Garth Brooks, and Kenny Rogers. Other members of the supporting cast
include Jeff "Stick" Davis, founding member and bass player for the Amazing
Rhythm Aces, in-demand keyboardist Michael Webb and 5 Bucks' vocalist Brian
Waldschlager.
DOIN' TIME ON PLANET EARTH, which landed at the top of many "best of 2000"
lists, has sparked the interest of a listening public that longs for the
more idyllic and traditional strains of country and rock 'n' roll a la New
Riders of the Purple Sage, the Outlaws, the Byrds, the Flying Burrito
Brothers and, of course, the late Gram Parsons. The CD spent five months on
the Americana charts and continues to be enjoyed globally on radio stations
that refuse to kowtow to trends and vapid, assembly-line fluff. Tunes that
have captured the imagination of fans worldwide include the rowdy "Jukebox
Girl," the shot-glass-back effect of "Wishful Drinking" and the hauntingly
painful "Exquisite Torture." More, every cut counts and displays a
wellspring of style and substance in every regard, including production and
songwriting.
Dates set in the Southeastern United States start on February 1, 2001:
February 1 Gino's, Boone NC
February 2 The Monkey Barrel, Gainesville GA
February 3 JP's, Valdosta GA
February 5 J.J. Cagney's, Savannah GA
February 6 Rafters, St. Simons Island GA
February 7 Charley B's, Albany GA
February 8 Brandy House, Atlanta GA
February 10 The Loft, Columbus GA
More dates to be announced in March, April and beyond.
This is a not-to-be-missed event as The Brooklyn Cowboys hit the trail and
take their refreshingly honest and earthy sounds to live audiences. While
this is only the first leg of a tour that will conquer the world, The
Brooklyn Cowboys will no doubt create quite a sensation.

Any of you folks who haven't caught Cage live lately owe it to yourselves to try to make one of these gigs...he's something else. Every time we get to do a show with him I'm knocked out by his over-the-top approach, always refreshing and different. and BTW, my band will be at the Brandy House the following night, Friday Feb. 9, and at the Georgia Theatre in Athens Sat. Feb. 10. You ought to check us out too! You can visit our whole schedule at: www.bluegroundundergrass.com
