need advice in investing

Post by Johan Jansen »

All new in the situation in at home digital recording, i'm trying to make an usefull investment in new hom-studio First: I sold all my old rack stuff, old mixing console and fostex recorder and bought a big 80 channel tascam m5000 mixing console. I got a computer with Cubase SX and Nuendo, good mics, and now I need the rest of the gear.
I hate to have a room full with rackstuff, console is already big enough :) and hope to get the effects with good plug-inns.
Is this possible:?
one computer for recording and play back, what interface do I need to have 4 analog inputs and a lot of analog outputs(24 and up).

another computer with plug-inns , added pro channel through the aux-lines on the console ( I like to mix through the console, not on the PC) What interface do I need here?

What cards, (firewire, pci..) what extra machines , processors, software etc. do I need?
I appreciate all your suggestions!
Thanks, Johan

Johan, You might look into a MOTU 2408 or depending on your budget, multiple RME or Apogee interfaces. There are a lot of choices!
