Personally, I would rather record on a nice desktop PC than mess with any of those all-in-one-in-a-box machines. But to each his own.

There are some threads running about this unit.It's a great PORTABLE tool. Easy to use and excellent quality.

read the thread about the MICRO BR, there is also some information about the BR600 as well.

match the unit to the need.

Let me say this about your question. Boss makes very good equipment whether it be recorders or effects. With that being said I'd have to agree with the others when they say go with a Computer setup but in many cases that's just plain simple over kill.

If one wants to have a little fun and just make some CD's to give to family and friends and doesn't need to record a complete band are probably better off with a unit like the 900 or any brand of equal value.

In the comparison of micro br, the 600 and the 900 the latter is the crown jewel, but thats only because it will do a little more and is a little more sophisticated than the other 2 mentioned.

If you only need 4 tracks and want the extreme portability then look no further than the micro br, but if you need a few more tracks then the other 2 might be good for you.

So what I'm saying is that yes the 900 is a great machine and you can do an awful lot of recording with the 900. Good luck and let us know which one you choose.

Shoot I forgot to answer your main question

The Boss 900 is as easy to use as any portable recorder can be. That can be very misleading because to someone who is acquainted with Boss recorders they would say that it's easy to learn but for someone who has never touched one it might seem like quite a steep learning curve, but I'll say this. If you can't learn how to operate the 900 you'll probably never have much luck learning any all in one recorder because as all in one recorders go the 900 is very easy to learn how to use.

Well spoken Bob..

My Daughter has a small Boss 4 track unit with her at College, yes we all know that the PC based systems are very efficient PRO systems but it's best to understand purpose first.

My daughter takes her unit out to her car with her and lays down 3 or 4 vocal tracks with her portable battery operated Boss recorder as there is no way possible for her to do that in her apartment.

Her own private little Honda Vocal Studio on wheels !

I guess you could bring your PC out to the Car but I'm thinking you probably can't drive too far away while it's plugged in
