Mike Brown or anyone/ shallow or deep 1501-?
I have seven 1501-4 speakers. Some are shallow basket and others are deeper looking and the magnets look different on some of these speakers as well. However, they are all 1501-4 speakers. So what is the difference and what is preferred for steel guitar?
[This message was edited by Len Amaral on 12 March 2003 at 05:04 PM.]

[This message was edited by Len Amaral on 12 March 2003 at 05:05 PM.]

What you have described is possibly a "mixture" of the various 1501 models that we used since the 1501 was introduced.
Up until around the early '90's we used all paper cones, then we introduced the tougher KEVLAR cone material in a deep basket. But, shortly thereafter we introduced the 1501-4 "SB"(shallow basket)model. So, it sounds as if you have the very early paper cone, a KEVLAR model and the latter 1501-4sb model.
The magnets have also changed in design as well. There was the original flat Spider/Peavey model, the Superstructure, another version that has a different appearance(without a nameplate) and possibly one more(which would be a late 90's model).
The power handling of each is determined by its age. The original BW was rated for 150 watts, then increased to 250 watts, then 350 watts.
