What's all the fuss about the Hilton pedal?

Post by Gary Walker »

I'll tell you. I just got mine this evening and all I can say is, where have you been all of my life. It's all they say and more. I have playing the Goodrich 122(Chalker pedal) and a Matchbox for years and thanks to Keith's wonderful pedal, I have a new guitar and a new amp. If you don't yet have one, skip going to Burger King for a few weeks and buy this miracle gadget and FLY like a pro, Thanks, Gary.

Hey Gary,
I totally agree with you. I got my Hilton just before I got my new ZumSteel. The first night I used it on the job, the rest of the band said that it sounded like I already had a new guitar. So now my new PSG has Bill L. 910 pickups that feed the Hilton. Then I go to a ProFex II and on to a pair of Nashville 400s. Finally, the Pre-Outs feed into the Mixing Board. The sound across the stage and the room is dynamite. Of course, since everything is so clean and clear, no one stage fails to miss my mistakes and I hear about them after each song. I can't get away with anything. I guess that is the only bad thing. Image

Gary,
I bought my first Hilton pedal from Keith last May at the OSGA show at Tulsa, and the 2nd one at the St. Louis show.I knew it would be a great pedal, but after hooking it up and using it, it was hard to believe how much I had been missing.
I just got a pair of 15/16" Bullet bars from Jim Burden, and feel that I've found that "missing link" in a bar, that I've been searching for. I really like that "BAR IN THE MIDDLE"!! In the past, I've shifted back and forth between 7/8" and 1", never realizing that 15/16" is the "Perfect" size!
"Get a Bullet Bar & a Hilton Pedal"!!! You won't be sorry. These guys definately know what quality is all about!!!

My Hilton pedal came in the mail yesterday from Al Brisco. There's a down-side for him and any other equipment vendors: with my BCT Carter, my Session 500, and the new Hilton pedal, I'll never sound any better, so I probably won't buy much more equipment! Image

Seriously, from the comments on the Forum I expected it to sound pretty good, but it's even better than I expected. And I followed Keith's advice (and will continue to do so), I left the adjustments alone and made a few tweaks on the 500 controls. Sounds wonderful to my ear!

Since I'm a newbie and went straight for the Hilton pedal (because of the comments here, and how I just "hate" any kind of elecrical pots because they invariably become noisy), I haven't had the opportunity to A/B with a "normal pot" pedal.

I do like the sound I get from the Hilton, though. The ONLY drawback is that you have to have it plugged in.

Don, I don't whether you have added the LeMay mod to your 500 as I have, spend the bucks and do it. The change is awsome. The string separation and clarity is so dramatic and with the new pedal, you are a different player, Thanks, Gary

Thanks Gary. I should have said I did the Lemay 500 mod install myself 2 years ago. It also made a world of difference.
