New Fender Cyber-Twin Amp.

Post by Rick Collins »

Has anyone played their non-pedal steel through the new Fender Cyber-Twin amp? It is designed to be selectable to sound like many classic amps and many contemporary amps. The new amp has both tube and DSP circuitry and can sound like the 1959 Bassman, 1960 Bandmaster, 1965 Twin Reverb, 1965 Deluxe Reverb, and a total of 35 classic amplifiers. Changing dials and switches actually allows you to copy the specific circuit design of the selected amp.

It has an LCD readout and four preset buttons,___two 15" Celestion speakers.

This amp may have a lot of excess baggage for steel.

Any opinions?

Well, it gets ripped apart by the amp experts. Kinds of opinions you would expect, i.e. doesn't sound like any of the amps, too sterile, etc...

My 2 cents? Great idea, but you try to be too many things at once, you end up appealing to noone!

The experts are an impartial group of Mesa-Boogie, Peavey and Marshall employees. Image

This should really go in the Electronics area.

I haven't tried it or even seen it myself, but the ads look interesting. I wonder how well this will do compared to the Line 6 POD or similar modeling amplifiers.

Rick, I have tried one, most amazing Technologically advanced amp that sounds
just average. I am really getting tired of
the "all in one Amp modelling", Give me tone
tone, tone! Line 6 has got it for amp
models IMHO. And its average! Greg

Hi Rick,
I tried one with a steel on Wed.It was pretty
nice.I don't know if it would stay clean enough on a gig as it's 2 65 watt amps into 2-12" speakers. Sorry, but I didn't look to see what spkrs. were in there. It's pretty easy to get around on the programming part of it,I never looked at the manual. My favorite preamp "models" were the blackface and the modern(Boogie) preamps for regular clean steel.Didn't have enough time to go through a lot on it as I was working, but hopefully I'll get to take it out for a roadtest here soon.
