Is Anyone Watching This Bunch Of Crap On CBS.Where In The Hell Are The Musicians.I've Been Watching This Program For About Fifteen Or Twenty Min.,The Only Musician I've Seen Is Some Guy With A Flat Top.

I saw one closeup of the steel guitar. My insight was during the Marty Robbins tribute.
I think it would have been proper to have Jeanie Pruett do Love Me as it was a hit for Marty and her one husbend was in Marty's band.

As Earnest Tubb , Ray Price, Faron Young, and Carl Smith, who always carried and featured a steel player were not even mentioned, I consider this program just another CMA Production.(CMA aka Country My A--).Jody.

I think it was an excellent tribute to the original artists and opry stars...EXCEPT Vince Gill singing Hank Williams Sr.'s songs. I had to do a double-take because his voice and style did not fit. Who was the steeler? All I saw was a blonde Emmons and the back of his head. Thumbs up to Alan Jackson. I can't say much good about the show that preceded this one.

I was amazed they had some of those "new artists" sing those "old country songs that ain't never gonna come back cause nobody wants to hear that stuff anymore so you better change or get left behind"!

See...they CAN do it when they want to!

Come on folks;I complain more than anyone in defense of Country Music,however this was a good show..It paid tribute ,was prime time and there was no POP inserted..Alan Jackson would have been a better man for the Hank Stuff but It was a good tribute to the Grand ole lady..CBS did televise it not NBC,Fox,or ABC..so whats the complaint about CBS for? They did no wrong this time for a change Keeping Dick (47 facelifts) Clark out of the Picture..One thing hard to believe, In the Credits they gave Production credits to Pete Fisher and Steve Buchanan..I doubt if those two could have pulled this off..

Yeah sure. I played with aol and the forum the entire time it was on. Every once in a while, my wife would come to the foot of the stairs and say, "Are you sure you don't want to watch this. It's about the Grande Ole Opry. Thought you loved the GOO!"

I did. I did! the key word is "loved".

'nuff said. This thread more or less proves what I knew it to be without having to endure a bunch of NY city slickers trying to show me what I saw in person happen when they were NOT even born!

God bless George D. Hay. And those wonderful people that had a vision.

Now where is that scoundral who ever permitted them dang drums and electric bass on that glorious stage, huh?

Well, I disagree, but I will try to NOT be disagreeable !!

--- I watched the entire show and heard some really good pedal steel !! I got one little look at Robbie Flint in Alan Jackson's band. I saw one other pedal steel player playing a single neck but I did not know who he was. All the musicians were working hard and I wish they would at least get a little notice, but I didn't let that ruin the show for me.

Well, I didn't watch it. I knew it was going to be on, but also knowing what usually is presented in these prime broadcast network airings I conveniently forgot about it.

Network shows are primarily aimed at a certain audience and age group - the prime buying age public. Seeing as how I am past that age group I don't watch a lot of network TV shows.

CBS finally does a show to honor the traditionalist and some of you don't watch. Yet, you have opinions about the show. I think you guys like to complain no matter what! Country or Not, JMHO

Remember folks this CBS special was aimed at the majority, NOT us! I think it was a successful show, showing some people that may not have heard some of the country standards that we like , an alt. to country radio! I think we should give CBS a break on this one,for they have had enough problems on the past election night!

I thought it was agood show compared to the stuff we have had to digest in the past. My complaint, if you want to call it that, is there was no "Western Swing" mentioned as well as the artists that perpetuate it. But, never the less, a giant step for for Country Music and in the right direction.
