I definitely heard Tommy behind John. That was great tone and some very tasty licks. If I hadn't seen him in the background, I would have thought it was John's own steel man. It sounded very rehearsed, and I mean that in a good way!

I was wondering why no camera shots, but knowing john doesn't always bring on his whole band (might be an opry limitation)I sort of thought it was TW playing. Most Artist that appear do like to perform there signature songs. I agree that more variety should be used by the older artist. However people still flock to see the original and seeing that they have no new releases, and that they are not over booked on the TV portion. Why not ride the horse that brung them? And Theresa Jumpin Bill who reached 90 and still jumps may have outlived his entertainment value as you said but he has not outlived his desire and love for the venue that keeps his blood flowing...

Mike,
I do agree with you about Skeeter performing a new or different song.I guess she thinks she should dance with who brought her, which is understandable.
I did'nt play much on John Conlee's tune, so you did'nt miss anything. T.W.
To whom ever,
I assure you Jumping Bill has not outlived his entertainment value. He always brings belly laughs from the audience,no matter what age they might be,including my four small children.

I thought Steve Holy could have used a steel. It seemed a little dead and a lot of gaps in the song. He probably can't afford a steeler yet (or his manager told him he didn't need one) but he could have used the staff steeler (Tommy) on the Opry.
On John Conlee's songs I heard the Sax but didn't notice any steel.
Skeeter is like all the entertainers on there, they do primarily their hit songs. If she didn't sing what she did there would be those that would be complaining. I remember years ago people would complain that Roy Acuff is going to come out and do Wabash Cannon Ball, but if he didn't do it the same people would be Pi$$ed.
