How does a 'mod' affect the sound?
What is this, and what does it do? Is it worth the money, or in what circumstances would one need it?
Would anyone like to try to describe what it sounds like, and the improvements it makes, to their ears?
(This is not meant to be one of those "tone" threads, but may turn out to be, who knows?)
Sincerely, Lincoln

The Peavey mod kit does a few things. First of all it improves the fidelity of the audio signal by replacing the older, cheaper opamps with modern hi-speed audiophile opamps. This generally sweetens and cleans up the tone and brings in more clean detail and nuance. The noise floor is reduced as well since the new opamps are so quiet. The other thing the kit does is re-voice the equalizer. The low bass gets extended a bit, the treble frequency gets moved from around 2kHz to up around 6kHz, and the presence control which boosts highs, gets moved on up to 10kHz. People have found that the treble control at 6kHz is more useful for dialing pick attack where the old frequency of 2kHz was horribly harsh if boosted too much. The low bass extension helps with the lower strings on the C6 neck, especially on the small Nashville 400 cabinet. And the higher presence control frequency tends to be less harsh than before and brings in more "air" or "presence". The mod kit makes it much easier to dial in a good tone.
