I have to agree with an over driven amp.
I just picked up a Randall 25W practice amp
and run it thru the loops effect on an Evans amp. It's small, lightweight, has tone and even reverb controls, and you can get all the varied distortion you want; and with tone.
I use a Morley A/B switch to go from distort
to clean.
